Facing the flak for the dynasty politics, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has said his wife Dimple Yadav will not contest the next lok Sabha elections in 2019.

“If my critics say that my party is promoting the family then my wife Dimple Yadav will not contest the next parliament elections. Akhilesh Yadav was in Raipur, capital of Chhattisgarh on Sunday. SP president claimed that there is nothing like ‘Parivarvaad’ in his party.

Refusing to comment on possible alliance with the Congress for 2019 lok Sabha elections, Akhilesh Yadav said that he has very cordial relations with the Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi. Soon after the crushing defeat of the Samajwadi party in State assembly elections in March this year Akhilesh Yadav  had said that his party’s alliance with the Congress will continue in 2019 lok Sabha elections.  His father Mulayam Singh Yadav had vehemently opposed the SP’s alliance with the Congress for the assembly elections and had blamed the alliance for the party’s defeat in the assembly elections.

Dimple Yadav is among the five lok Sabha MPs of the Samajwadi party who won in 2014 lok sabha elections. All five are from the first family of the Samajwadi party including Mulayam Singh Yadav, his grandson Tej Pratap Yadav, two nephews Dharmendra Yadav and Akshay Yadav and daughter in law Dimple Yadav.

Dimple Yadav made debut in politics in October 2009 when she unsuccessfully contest the by election to Ferozabad lok Sabha seat. She was defeated by Raj Babbar of the Congress. The by election in Ferozabad was caused by the resignation by the then MP and her husband Akhilesh Yadav as he was also elected from the Kannauj lok Sabha seat. She however made it to the lok Sabha in 2012 as she was declared elected unopposed in the by election in Kannauj lok Sabha. The by election was caused by the resignation of the sitting MP Akhilesh Yadav who had taken over as the chief minister of UP in March 2012. Dimple Yadav had actively campaigned for the party in last State Assembly elections.
