New Delhi: Diljit Dosanjh’s scheduled concert in Delhi on October 30 has hit a roadblock after Delhi Police denied permission for the event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.

The concert is part of Dosanjh’s RuPay Aura India Tour and was scheduled to mark the beginning of the India leg of the tour. According to reports, the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South District, communicated the decision to ticketing platform BookMyShow.

Police cited security concerns, specific threat-related inputs, existing security commitments during the festive season and law-and-order responsibilities while declining permission for the event. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the nature of the specific threat inputs.

The development has left the status of the October 30 concert uncertain. As of October 22, there has been no official announcement from the organisers confirming a cancellation, rescheduling or change of venue. The event was still listed on BookMyShow at the time of reporting.

The Delhi concert had earlier been moved from November 1 to October 30 following an appeal by Punjab Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sahney. Sahney had urged Dosanjh and the organisers to avoid November 1, the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh violence, citing the sentiments of families affected by the violence. Dosanjh subsequently agreed to the date change.

The Delhi show was expected to be the first stop of the India leg of the Aura tour, which is scheduled to continue with performances in cities including Indore, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Lucknow and Chandigarh.

For now, fans who have purchased tickets are awaiting an official word from the organisers and ticketing platform on whether the Delhi concert will go ahead, be moved to another date or venue, or be cancelled.

The latest development concerns permission for the Delhi event only; no changes to the other announced India tour dates have been reported.

This story will be updated as further information is confirmed by Delhi Police or the event organisers.
