Dikshit raps PM, Akhilesh; says Cong to go alone in polls

Former Delhi Chief Minister and Congress’s Chief Ministerial face for 2017 UP Assembly polls Sheila Dikshit made a frontal attack on both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav.

She blamed Modi for taking more interest in raising non-important issues and showing no concern for the problems particularly on rising prices of essential commodities while she criticised Yadav on the deteriorating law and order situation and lack of development of Uttar Pradesh.

“I don’t agree with Modi who is only on a lip-service. He has done nothing for Gau Raksha at the Centre for the past two years. There is a need for gaushalas but the Government has failed to do it”, she said while reacting to the comments of Modi on ‘Gau-Rakshaks’on Sunday.

Dikshit said that Congress would not go for any pre-poll alliance in the UP polls and remained unresponsive about whether she would contest the polls or not. However, the UP CM face was bit uncomfortable, when asked about the humiliating defeat of the Congress candidate in the Moradabad mayor bypolls held recently.

“People are yet to see anything positive from this BJP Government,” she added, while taking on the Central Government for not fulfilling any of the promises made during its poll campaigns. Hailing the works done by the UPA Government, Dikshit said the pace of development had stopped in the present regime and Uttar Pradesh is the most deprived State in this regard.

The three-time Delhi CM was optimistic that the Congress will return to power in UP after 27 years. “The enthusiasm seen among the party workers during our visit to several cities, particular in PM’s constituency Varanasi, is a clear picture that people have now decided to give the Congress a chance,” she said.

Dikshit claimed that the Congress is preparing a roadmap for UP to attract the youths by promising development in all fields which had lagged during the past 27 years. “law and order situation has hit the bottom and regular assault on women, including the one made in Bulundhshar, is a clear reflection of the jungle raj in the State”, she quipped while attacking the State Government. “
