Digvijay hits out at idea of 'third front'
Published on:

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh scoffed at the idea of a third front, saying “a tail cannot lead a body”. Speaking to reporters at the State party headquarters, Singh who was recently appointed as the AICC general secretary in-charge of Goa wrote off the possibility of a non-Congress non-BJP alliance saying that it would be too much of a task for the smaller parties.

“When smaller parties lead it is difficult. You see, a tail cannot lead the body,” Singh said. Singh is down in the State in his first meeting since taking over the State desk and has had long meetings with the State’s part leadership. Regional parties like the Trinamool Congress, the Janata Dal (United) and others have already been speaking of forming a Federal front a loosely cohesive unit of regional parties in the run up to the forthcoming 2014 lok Sabha polls. Singh also said that he was willing to contest the lok Sabha polls if the party high command gives him the ticket, but ruled out his entry into State politics.
