The BJP and the Trinamool Congress MPs engaged in a war of words in the lok Sabha on Tuesday over the allegations on the shell companies and money laundering of Abhishek Banerjee who is both MP and nephew of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

During the Zero Hour, BJP MP Kirit Somaiya raised the issue and alleged that certain shell companies were registered at West Bengal Chief Minister's address. TMC MPs protested and shouted over Somaiya's charges and trooped to the Well.

For a brief time, the situation was noisy with allegations and counters by BJP and TMC MPs. Before Somaiya's speech, TMC MP Saugata Roy leveled allegations against BJP for poaching Opposition party MlAs across the country to topple the governments. Soon after this, Somaiya, who was invited speak, started about the Kolkata-based shell companies and the alleged role of Mamata's nephew in patronising such business.

He alleged that a similar scam had taken place in West Bengal and that it has been found that the address of the Chief Minister was given by the shell company during its registration. The TMC MPs took strong objection to the comments and demanded that the Speaker expunge them from the records.
