Didi's kin slaps criminal libel on Mukul Roy

After having filed a civil libel suit at Alipurduar Court, Trinamool Congress MP and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee on Tuesday slapped a criminal defamation case against former Railway Minister Roy for “falsely dragging my name in the Biswa Bangla controversy.”

Roy who recently joined the BJP had in a recent public meeting alleged showing “relevant legal papers” that junior Banerjee was the real beneficiary of the Biswa Bangla Marketing Company that was using the Biswha Bangla logo originally conceived and sketched by the CM and reportedly “given away” to the State Government for its use and exploitation.

Banerjee on Tuesday “challenged” Roy to prove that his company was related to BBMC. “My company has no relation with BBMC neither is it associated with the Jago Bangla (Trinamool mouthpiece). If he (Roy) can prove it then I will quit politics and if he fails to do so then he will have to leave Bengal.”

The Bankshall Court where the case was filed “has found prima facie merit” in the case and has issued summons to Roy on December 20, lawyers said.

Meanwhile in an incident related to the fortunes of ruling Trinamool Congress, the Enforcement Directorate on Tuesday interrogated Ratna Chatterjee, the wife of Bengal Minister and Kolkata Mayor Sovan Chatterjee in relation to the Narada pay off case.
