Accusing the BJP of flushing out democratic and secular traditions from the country, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has said that each action of the saffron outfit was dictated by a destructive mindset and sense of political vendetta.
She wrote on Twitter that whatever the BJP and its mother organisation RSS did was a product of “deliberate destructiveness and political vendetta,” besides accusing the saffron outfit of making misleading statements about a Supreme Court directive that led to the NRC exercise.
“It is unfortunate the BJP-RSS are making and spreading misleading statements against the Supreme Court,” as “the Supreme Court never asked to delete names of Indian citizens from the NRC.”
Banerjee’s immediate point of reference was what her senior party colleagues call “mischievously faulted” National Register of Citizens for Assam where members of all minority population had been willfully thrown out of the draft NRC list.
In what her admirers called a “masterstroke attempt” at including the people of all other linguistic population in her struggle Banerjee had been constantly saying that not only the Bengalis but also the Assamese, Marwaris, Gorkhas, Punjabis, Biharis and those from Uttar Pradesh had been affected by the “mischievously drafted NRC list.”
