After befriending former BJP leader Yashwant Sinha, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee may induct Congress’ Shatru into the Trinamool Congress. Mumbai super star Shatrughna Sinha is likely to join the Trinamool Congress on July 21, party sources said claiming “talks are on … expecting positive response.”
According to sources in the Trinamool Congress, the Bihari Babu of the tinsel town could quit the Congress and join the Bengal ruling outfit in the presence of Banerjee when she would deliver a speech from Delhi’s Constitutional Club on the occasion of Trinamool Congress Martyrs’ Day.
On whether there was a likelihood of his changing sides, Sinha recently gave a circuitous reply reminding, “politics is the art of possibilities.” Sinha a former Patna Sahib MP had quit the BJP to join the Congress but was defeated in the 2019 general elections.
A senior TMC leader and a State minister said “wait for many surprises on July 21 … some leaders and prominent personalities may join the Trinamool Congress to buttress Mamata Banerjee’s fight against the communal forces.”
According to TMC sources Bengal Congress vice president Shankar Malakar too is likely to join Banerjee’s party on July 21. Malakar a veteran Congress man however would not comment on the issue.
Sinha is known to have been impressed by the Bengal Chief Minister’s astounding success in defeating the BJP which came to win the State with all its might and money power. He praised Banerjee calling her a “real Bengal tigress” and a “tried and tested leader” who defeated “propaganda and 'dhanshakti' (money power)” in the Bengal elections.
In an apparent bid to blow up her image as a true national leader who should be taken seriously by all anti-BJP parties the TMC supremo will deliver the July 21 Trinamool Congress Martyrs’ Day speech from Constitution Club in Delhi. Her virtual rally would be not only in Bengal but in many other states.
In Delhi Banerjee is likely to meet a host of senior leaders from other parties. She also said that “if I get an appointment I will also meet the Prime Minister and the President.”
