Keeping up her tirade against the Congress, Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has questioned the Centre’s decision to release water from Teesta and Farakka barrages to Bangladesh, sinking in the process the interests of the people living on this side of the border.
The Chief Minister who had in 2011 abruptly walked out of a Prime Ministerial team to Dhaka spiking the signing of a the Teesta Accord earlier said on Wednesday that before doing good to other countries the Centre should first look after the interests of its own people.
lambasting the Centre for “not having a proper agreement with Bangladesh on sharing the waters of Ganga and Teesta” she insisted that she was “never in favour of showing love to other countries at the cost of my own countrymen.”
