In an ode apparently dedicated to the cause of unity of the people of India Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has penned a song on the 75th Independence Day.

The lyrics read “Desh ta shobar nijer” (this country belongs to all) and has been sung by singer-turned-minister Indranil Sen, artist Monomoy Bhattacharya Trisha Parui and Debojyoti Ghosh, the Chief Minister has written on the social media.

She wrote, “On the 75th Independence Day, let us all come together to strengthen our voices against all forces that aim to stifle our freedom. We must never forget the sacrifice of those who fought a long and hard battle for this day.”

Meanwhile Tableaux highlighting Khela Hobe Diwas (Games Day) and Lakshmir Bhandar (pot of Goddess Laxmi) was the highlight of the Trinamool Congress Government’s celebration of the Independence Day on Sunday.

While Khela Hobe Diwas will be celebrated on August 16, Lakshmi Bhandar is a scheme unveiled by the Chief Minister under which the unemployed women of the State would be given some cash support of Rs 500-1,000.
