Didi demands BJP come clean on poll expenditure

Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday launched a scathing attack on the BJP for trying to “finish her off and capture power in Bengal” by using the ED and CBI and levelling false allegations against her.

Addressing an election rally Banerjee at BJP’s strong bastion at Burrabazar in Kolkata she said, “Today they have unleashed the CBI which is demanding our income-expenditure balance sheet and reports on electoral expenditures. But who will ask questions from the BJP which spent crores of rupees in ads during the 2014 general electionsIJ”

The BJP and “their allies” the Congress and the left were trying to “finish us off because we speak the truth and have the courage to fight them singly. They are asking for balance sheets because we are protesting against the oppressive land Bill tabled by the BJP,” she said.

Claiming that the TMC was a “poor party which will continue to hold its head high against all assaults” Didi said “the CBI was asking for accounts of the incomes we made from donations from youths, housewives and farmers.”
