Deploy Central forces for counting in UP: BJP

Predicting that “achche din aane wale hain”, the State unit of BJP asked the Election Commission to make all arrangements for free and fair counting of votes in the State on May 16. It also demanded deployment of para-military forces, particularly in constituencies from where Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and his family members have contested the election.

“The ruling Samajwadi Party went for large-scale rigging during polling at Firozabad, Etawah, Mainpuri, Kannauj and Budaun, from where the family members of Mulayam Singh Yadav contested the election. The available trends suggest that the SP is losing in these constituencies and therefore it may do mischief to recover lost ground,” BJP State president laxmikant Bajpai said here on Tuesday.

Bajpai has sent a memorandum to the Election Commission in which he has said that the EC should deploy only Central forces and Central observers at the counting centres.
