Demolition of Jain temple in Pakistan wrong: Amit Shah

Published on:

Registering his displeasure over the demolition of an ancient Jain temple in lahore, BJP president Amit Shah said no prior information on the incident was provided to the Indian Government from Pakistan, as agreed upon in the pact signed between the two countries at the time of Independence. The BJP chief, while addressing a delegation led by founder of Ahimsha Vishwa Bharti Acharya lokesh Muni, assured that he will take the matter with the Foreign Secretary and will ask him to talk to Pakistan High Commission to resolve the issue.

Speaking at the event, Acharya lokesh said the Jain temple near Anarkali Bazar, lahore holds historic value and was demolished against the lahore High Court’s orders, urging the Union Government to take immediate action to protect the statue and remains of the temple. He also appealed to the global organisations like UNESCO to intervene into the matter, adding he would personally visit the neighbouring country along with a delegation if no action was taken shortly.
