Delimitation on cards for panchayat polls in Aligarh

Published on:

In the district, there will be a revised delimitation for the three-tier panchayat elections. The government took this decision after declaring Barauli, Jawan, Gabhana and Tappal as the new city panchayat in the district. From the government level, about 17 panchayats have also been added to these new bodies. Now the Panchayati Raj Department will release the proposed delimitation afresh keeping them out of delimitation.

Panchayat elections will be held in 2021 from March to April. There were orders for delimitation of Pradhani for which orders were released for the creation of new panchayats to the population left out of the partial panchayats that joined the urban bodies. In this way, a total of 3 new Nagar Panchayats were formed in the district and the total number of panchayats increased to 881.

After this, orders have been given to delimit the wards of all the District Panchayat members and area Panchayat members. The department also proposed its revised delimitation. In this, four wards of District Panchayat in the district were reduced making a total of 48 wards in the district. Meanwhile, instead of 1290 in the area panchayat, 11980 wards remain.

4 days ago, 4 new Nagar Panchayats were created in the Aligarh district by the state government and about 17Gram panchayats were also included in these. As such, the proposed delimitation has been repealed. Now the district will have fresh delimitation of Pradhani, District Panchayat member and area Panchayat member.

Pradhani elections were held in 902 Gram Panchayats in 2015, but in 2017 24 panchayats were included in urban bodies due to which 878 panchayats have been left in the district, but a few days ago three new panchayats formed. The total number increased to 881, but now 17 more panchayats have gone to Nikaya. Now elections will be held in 864 panchayats in the district.

Anunya Jha, Chief Development Officer said that notification of four new Nagar Panchayats has been issued in the district. About 17 panchayats have also been added to it. In such a situation, a new delimitation will be carried out for the panchayat elections in the district. The currently proposed limitation is immediately canceled.
