Delhi’s power generating companies have slapped contempt petitions on BSES for faulting on payment of dues to the tune of Rs406 crore till January 2015. The BSES Yamuna and BSES Rajdhani, the two major discoms supplying power to East, Central and South Delhi had undertaken before the Supreme Court to clear the current dues by May 31 last year. Despite being granted several extensions, the Anil Ambani owned firms have yet not paid to Delhi Transco limited, Indraprastha Power limited and Pragati Power Corporation.

In its contempt plea filed through advocate Wasim A Qadri, the power producing companies urged the apex court to initiate contempt against BSES for willfully flouting and deliberately disobeying repeated orders of the Court passed on March 26, May 6, and July3 last year. The current outstanding dues as on January 20, 2015 are Rs406.41 crore while the total dues pending since October 2010 amounts to Rs1,868.06 crore. The companies claimed they faced “precarious financial condition” as it had defaulted on repayment of loan availed from Delhi Government and even from various banks.
