Delhi lad among CAT toppers who secure 100 percentile

The Common Admission Test (CAT) results for admission to IIMs and other B-schools were declared on Tuesday, with eight candidates scoring a perfect 100 percentile score.

New Delhi's Anirudh Batra is among the eight toppers with a perfect 100 in the exams conducted during a testing period from October 16 to November 11 across 40 cities.

A perfect hundred percentile did not come to Anirudh in the first attempt. "This was my second attempt and I am very happy to have secured a position in the top eight," said Anirudh, who is an Engineer in Electronics from BITS Pilani.

Born and brought up in Delhi, Anirudh lives with his parents and two sisters in West Delhi's Paschim Vihar. When asked about his inspiration to pursue MBA, he gave the credit to his elder sister who is an MBA and currently pursuing PhD.

When asked about the hours of study he put in to achieve this stature, a modest Anirudh said, "I didn't study too much. I just studied sufficient," he said adding that he did not take any coaching for the exam. "I only did the mock tests. No proper coaching for it," he said. All the eight candidates are male and from engineering background. Six of them are from the IITs, said CAT 2013 convenor Professor Rohit Kapoor. There are 10 candidates also who have scored 99.9 percentile, and one of them is a female, he said.
