Youth in large numbers turned out to celebrate traditional folk dance and music as a grand three-day Dandiya and Navratri festival kicked off at Chhatrasal Stadium in the national Capital on Friday. Organised jointly by Delhi Tourism and the Government of Delhi, the event aims to promote India’s rich cultural heritage and offer vibrant cultural engagement during the festive season.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra attended the inaugural day as chief guests, joining hundreds of energetic participants dancing to rhythmic musical beats.
The ongoing festival features traditional Gujarati Dandiya and Garba performances, musical programmes, cultural displays, and diverse food stalls. Entry to the stadium remains free for the general public throughout the three-day event.
Organisers noted that the opening day was specially dedicated to the youth, who enthusiastically participated in traditional attire, holding decorated wooden sticks. The second day of celebration will be dedicated to Anganwadi workers to honor their community contributions and offer them an evening of festive entertainment.
The Delhi Government highlighted that the celebration reflects the Capital’s spirit of harmony and cultural inclusivity, providing residents with memorable experiences during Navratri.
