Following the controversy over claims by AIIMS Forensic Department head that he was pressurised to manipulate the autopsy report of Sunanda Pushkar which he resisted, the Delhi Police is likely to question Former Union Minister Shashi Tharoor and Head of Forensics Dr Sudhir Gupta. Inquest proceedings with regard to the death of Sunanda Pushkar are already underway.

Sources further said the police will seek legal opinion in this regard. “Delhi Police has also written to the Central Forensic Science laboratory (CFSl) to send their findings as soon as possible to continue the course of investigations,” sources said.

Meanwhile, Dr Sudhir Gupta, the head of the AIIMS' forensic department stuck to his controversial claim that he was pressurised to manipulate the post-mortem report of Tharoor's wife Sunanda but he did not succumb. On the other hand, Delhi Police Commissioner BS Bassi on Thursday said that they want investigations into the case to be completed as soon as possible while reiterating that if needed they will examine Tharoor and Dr Gupta. “Delhi Police wants investigations in this case to be completed as soon as possible. If it is necessary, both Dr Gupta and Tharoor will be questioned,” Bassi told reporters. Asked if Delhi Police has given a clean chit to Tharoor in the case, Bassi said, “Once we complete our enquiry, we will only then know. And, for the time being, our investigation is on,”
