A decomposed body of a woman probably in her late 30s was found stuffed inside a jute bag in North Delhi’s Azadpur Mandi area on Thursday morning.
According to police, the semi-nude body of the woman was discovered around 9 am by a sweeper. The sweeper tried to pick the bag but it was heavy. He then saw the woman’s limbs coming out of the bag. The bag was kept next to a dustbin in Azadpur Mandi, Asia’s largest wholesale fruits and vegetable market. The face of the victim was mutilated to conceal her identity. From the condition of the body, it seems she was murdered around a week back.
The local police claimed that the crime team took hours to reach the spot. The crime team arrived only by 4 pm. The body has been sent for a post-mortem exam to ascertain if she was sexually assaulted before being killed. Police officials are also scanning the records to check if there was any missing person’s diary lodged.
