A couple who was in debt committed suicide at their residence in East Delhi’s Trilokpuri block 35 area on Friday afternoon. The deceased have been identified as Madhusudan (55) and Seema (50).
Madhusudan was a mechanic and ran a spare parts shop. The incident was discovered when one customer of Madhusudan reached his residence. Despite repeated calls when no one opened the door, he peeped through the window and saw the couple hanging from the ceiling fan. The police was informed and the bodies were sent for postmortem.
Neighbours revealed that the couple had a daughter who is married. The couple was in debt as they had borrowed money for their daughter’s wedding. In the suicide note recovered from the spot, the couple had written that they had borrowed money from a lot of people. They could not borrow more money from the family members and decided to end their life.
