Acting tough on various housing societies, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has directed owners of various multi-storey buildings to form an Apartment Owners’ Association under the Delhi Apartment Ownership Act, 1986.
Under this act, all the apartment owners of the various multi-storied buildings are required to form an panel which shall take over the management from the promoters or builders. “It is often observed that after a year of moving into their new home, owners get irked for maintenance. The builder often neglects and there is no association formed which is compulsory under the act,” said an official. The association will be responsible for all the functions relating to the management of the building, collection of maintenance charges, expenditure on maintenance, manpower, legal compliance etc.
