In a bid to tighten administrative discipline and streamline official records, Dumka Deputy Commissioner Abhijit Sinha conducted a surprise inspection of the district record room and the old Collectorate campus on Wednesday. Taking strong exception to irregularities and official negligence, the DC directed authorities to issue show-cause notices to responsible personnel and ordered strict compliance with service rules.

During his visit to the record room, Sinha reviewed the upkeep and maintenance of official registries and archives. Finding that the head clerk was unable to provide satisfactory updates regarding the current status of pending applications, the DC directed that an explanation be sought immediately.

He also took serious note of lapses by an assistant clerk who had failed to process received applications in accordance with prescribed norms, ordering a show-cause notice against him as well. Emphasising accountability, the DC warned that dereliction of duty in administrative work would not be tolerated and instructed staff to ensure the time-bound disposal of all pending public petitions.

Cracking the whip on absenteeism, Sinha ordered punitive action under the principle of ‘No Work, No Pay’ against an office attendant found absent without prior authorization. He stressed that maintaining decorum, punctuality, and accountability is paramount across all government establishments.

Following the record room inspection, the Deputy Commissioner visited the old Collectorate campus to assess the condition of locked and abandoned structures. He also reviewed the progress of the library currently under construction on the premises, issuing necessary directives to the executing agencies to expedite work and ensure that the facility is developed into a well-organized, functional resource center for citizens.
