Yesteryear encounter-specialist Daya Nayak is back in the Mumbai police force, with the Maharashtra police top brass deciding to rescind its order suspending him from the service after he refused to take a posting in Nagpur in July last year.
Nayak, who had been in the dog house for nearly six and half years after he was suspended for the first time from the service in 2006 for his alleged involvement in a disproportionate assets case, was reinstated into service in 2012.
After he worked initially at the West region Control Room in Mumbai, Nayak was transferred to Nagpur in 2014. However, he refused to take up the Nagpur posting, fearing his threat his and family members’ life. Following his failure to report to his duty at Nagpur, Nayak was suspended for the second time in July last year.
Maharashtra’s director general of police Pravin Dixit confirmed the reinstatement of Nayak in service.
