A Dalit minor girl was allegedly gang-raped by two youth in the Malawan area of Etah district on August 29. The girl was kidnapped by Dharamveer and Rahul from her house in Nigoha Hasanpur village and then they raped her  taking turns. The family of the victim approached Superintendent of Police (SP) P Ajay Mohan after the local police did not register the FIR for two days.

On Saturday night, on the SP’s direction, the FIR was registered at Malawan police station against the two accused. The girl has been sent for a medical examination. The incident caused the villagers to flow in rage and they staged protest against the police for delaying registration of the case. They also demanded immediate arrest of the miscreants.

In another incident, a dreaded criminal has raped an eight-year-old girl in Ramraipur village under Kotwali police station in Sant Ravidas Nagar district on Saturday night. The miscreant identified as Sonwa (36), a dreaded criminal, who escaped from the jail four times, was caught red-handed in the field by villagers. The people have beaten the accused before handing him over to the police.

Several cases of murder and kidnapping were pending  against the accused. The girl has been admitted to the hospital and is in a critical condition. The police have registered a case and medical examination of the victim confirmed rape. Meanwhile, the family of rape victim ended their hunger strike on the collectorate premises in Shahjahanpur district on Saturday night after arrest of self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu in Indore. Circle Officer (City) Rajeshwar Singh offered a glass of juice to the victim’s father to end his fast on Saturday midnight.

The father of the girl, however, demanded the accused Bapu should not get bail on his false claim over health. “Rajasthan Police should start the trial and oppose Asaram’s bail. The accused should be treated like a common criminal and no VVIP treatment should given to him,’’ victim’s father said while thanking the media for their support on the matter.
