The daily Covid-19 infections dropped further to 14,372 on Tuesday as against 15,140 recorded on Monday, even as the daily cases in Mumbai went down further to 803 during the last 24 hours from 960 cases recorded on Monday.
On a day when no fresh omicron case was reported in the State, the daily infections dropped by 762 cases on Monday. With the fresh infections, the total number of Covid-19 cases in the state rose from 77,21,109 cases to 77,35,481 cases.
With 94 fresh deaths, the total number of deaths registered in the State since the outbreak of Covid-19 in the state in March 2020 went up from 1,42,611 to 1,42.705.
Mumbai, where the daily infections have been dropping steadily for more than two weeks now, witnessed a drop in the number of cases from 960 to 803. With the latest cases, the total number of cases in Mumbai mounted from 10,46,590 to 10,47,393.
As 30,093 Covid-19 patients were discharged from the hospitals across the state after full recovery, the total number of people discharged from the hospitals since the second week of March 2020 increased from 73,68,259 to 73,97,352.The recovery rate in the state rose from 95.42 per cent to 95.53 per cent.
The number of “active cases” in the state dropped from 2,07,350 cases to 1,91,524 The fatality rate in the state dropped from 1.85 per cent to 1.84 per cent,The active cases in Pune dropped from 62365 on Monday to 59204 cases on Tuesday.
The active cases in Mumbai dropped from 10797 to 9900, while the active cases in the neighbouring Thane rose from 9900 on Monday to 13296 on Tuesday.Nagpur accounted for 22831 cases, followed by Nashik (14848), Ahmednagar (9727),
Aurangabad (5814), Satara (5219) and Raigad ( 4266).
Of the 7,47, 82,391 samples sent to various laboratories across the state so far, 7,47,82,391 have tested positive (10.34 per cent) for COVID-19 until Tuesday.
Currently, 10,69,596 people are in home quarantine while 2,731 people are in institutional quarantine. Meanwhile, no fresh Omicron case was recorded in Maharashtra, resulting in the total number of the new Covid-19 variant cases remaining static at 3,221.
