The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will incorporate global and national ‘best practices’ for formulation of training programmes for its nearly two dozen academies that train the paramilitary personnel for varied skills including jungle craft and anti-terrorism.
The paramilitary has decided to closely monitor best practices and other successful models adopted by other forces and accordingly prepare a policy for introduction in the CRPF training institutions.
“The training directorate of the CRPF will act as an interface between the paramilitary and Government for overall improvement in the field of training and related infrastructure to suit the ever changing operational requirements,” a senior official said.
The directorate will also conceptualise and formulate policies, benchmarking standards and update and review the syllabi. Apart from auditing the training imparted by the CRPF academies, the directorate will standardise the drills and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
In its bid to improve the overall training quality, the paramilitary will undertake pilot projects to study and test new methods of honing the skills of its personnel in different tactics and specialised courses. Seminars and workshops will also be organized to motivate the officers in grasping the latest practices adopted by different forces and perspectives of the expert institutions. The new modules will ensure practical and need-based training by incorporating inputs from the ground, officials said.
All the 18 training academies and five ad hoc institutes of the CRPF have been put under effective supervision of the defined authorities within the force by clearly spelling out the role and responsibilities to be handled by various sectors of the paramilitary.
The Inspector General rank officials who have been given the role of supervising the various academies will be required to undertake regular visits and carry out inspections of the training facilities specifically commenting on quality of training and instructors, facilities available, models used and innovations adopted to suit the operational requirements.
