The jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) have been deployed  in the Upper Dhangri village of frontier Rajouri district to instill a sense of security among the local residents in the area.

Six members of the Dhangri village including two children lost their lives in two back to back incidents  of terrorist violence on Sunday. The elected public  representatives at the grass roots level had demanded  adequate security cover for the villagers in the area.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha during his visit to the village had given an assurance to the local residents that the UT administration will take all necessary steps to boost the security and instill a sense of security among the residents in the aftermath of gruesome killing of civilians.  The Union Home Ministry had earlier decided to rush at least 18 companies of the central para military forces for immediate deployment in the twin frontier districts of Rajouri and Poonch. The first company of the CRPF Thursday arrived in the upper Dhangri village, official sources told The Pioneer.

Following the recent terror attack the demand for strengthening Village defence groups was also raised by the villagers. Former DGP Dr SP Vaid along with several other retired police officers and security experts have also supported the demand.

During his visit toDhangri DGP J&K police Dilbagh Singh had also given an assurance to the villagers that village defence groups would be beefed up by replacing .303  rifles with other upgraded rifles.
