Reiterating its support to Telangana, the BJP on Friday claimed that a leadership crisis within Congress and the way it handled the separate State issue has created an inter-regional rivalry in Andhra Pradesh. The Opposition party also suggested the Centre call all stakeholders, take them into confidence and discuss all areas of concern.
“The creation of a new State requires a lot of political work. This requires political leadership with great acumen. The Congress, which is suffering from a leadership crisis within it, has not taken any step in this direction. Instead, it has left the situation to deteriorate by the day. For any work on such critical matter as bifurcation, normalcy should prevail in the State,” party president Rajnath Singh said.
Demanding the State Government to ensure safety and security of the people and their property, Singh said the there was a need for all the Government machinery to remain vigilant in light of the threat from cyclone Phailin.
“We appeal to Chandrababu Naidu and YS Jaganmohan Reddy to call off their fast. We also appeal to all those who are engaged in agitations and protests or fasts in different part of the State to call off their agitations to restore normalcy,” Singh said.
