The CPI(M)’s 26-day Kerala Raksha Yatra led by its State secretary Pinarayi Vijayan concluded at Kozhikode on Wednesday evening with a huge rally which effectively became the start of the party’s campaign in Kerala for the lok Sabha election.
The Yatra raising the slogan ‘Secular India, Developed Kerala’ was flagged off at the Martyrs’ Memorial in Punnapra, Alappuzha on February 1 and had covered 126 of the total 140 Assembly constituencies in the State.
Speaking at the rally, Pinarayi unleashed a scathing attack against a section of the media saying that they were determined to defame the Marxist party through the “paid news” route. “Certain media houses are adopting a heinous stand with respect to the CPI(M). We must keep this in mind even when we are opposing our political rivals,” he said.
