Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Wednesday attacked the ‘samajwad’ adopted by Samajwadi Party amidst strong protest by members of the opposition benches, particularly the SP.
“The country does not need ‘samajwad’ but ‘Ram rajya’,” Yogi said while speaking on the Budget in the Council on Wednesday afternoon.
Reacting to Yogi’s remarks, SP members said that the word ‘samajwad’ (socialism) was in the preamble of the Constitution and the Chief Minister should not speak like that. They demanded that Yogi’s statement on socialism be removed from the proceedings of the House.
“I know much about this fake brand. This brand was seen in Germany as ‘Nazism’ and in Italy as ‘Fascism’. Have we not seen it’s distorted form as ‘goonda raj’ (hooliganism) in UPIJ” Yogi said while targeting the socialism of SP.
Yogi ridiculed the new-found Samajwadi Party-Bahujan Samaj Party bonhomie in the state, saying that some people had become “circus lions” and were surviving on “leftovers”.
“The circus lion does not hunt but survives on leftovers of others and becomes glad as if it has got a prey. It will be good if instead of becoming such type of lions, one trusts one’s self-respect,” Yogi said without naming anybody.
Reacting to the claims of opposition that the Budget was anti-development and anti-people, Yogi said, “We have presented the biggest Budget of Rs 4.28 lakh crore. Of the funds for Agriculture department sanctioned in July last year, 98 per cent has been spent. Besides, 100 per cent budget of the Home department, 78 per cent of Panchayati Raj department, 65 per cent of PWD, 87 per cent of Medical Education departments have been spent,” the Chief Minister asserted.
“Our government has sanctioned construction of 9.71 lakh houses under Prime Minister’s housing scheme and has given 32 lakh power connections to BPl (below poverty line) families and handed out relaxations to farmers. This is Ram rajya,” he claimed.
Yogi alleged that due to the faulty policies of the SP and BSP governments in the past, BEd and other degree holders were agitating in the state. “The state government is going to start recruitment in a big way,” he added.
Yogi said that no farmer committed suicide during his regime and added that work on Purvanchal Expressway would start next month.
On a report mentioned by SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday that maximum riots took place in UP, Yogi said, “The report was of 2016 when Akhilesh Yadav was in power.”
“We have created such an atmosphere that criminals have no options left. Our government has changed the image of UP in the eyes of investors,” he said.
Earlier in the day, Samajwadi Party members disrupted the proceedings of the House for not ensuring reservation in jobs given through outsourcing.
SP member Dr Rajpal Kashyap raised the issue, saying that it would end reservation policy in the state.
When BJP member Devendra Pratap Singh objected at raising the issue, the SP members got agitated and started raising slogans against the government and came in the Well after which the proceedings were first adjourned for 20 minutes and again for 10 minutes.
Council nod to UPCOC Bill
The Uttar Pradesh legislature on Wednesday passed the stringent bill to curb organised crime and deal strictly with those trying to foment terror with the legislative Council giving clearing the Uttar Pradesh Control of Organised Crime Bill. It will now be sent to Governor Ram Naik for his assent after which the Act will come into force.
The Bill was passed by the Assembly for a second time on Tuesday and it was tabled again in the Council on Wednesday.
It aims to check organised crime and terror activities in the state and deal sternly with those trying to foment terror or dislodge the government forcibly or through violent means.
The UPCOC Bill, 2017 was passed by the Assembly in December last year but it had to be reintroduced in the Assembly as it could not be passed in the Council, where the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party is in minority.
