In a major war of words between the ruling Congress and the Opposition BJP ahead of ensuing 2018 Assembly elections in Karnataka, BJP on Monday said they will jail corrupt Congress Ministers within 48 hours of returning  to power. lingayat strongman and State BJP president BS Yeddyurappa declared that corrupt Ministers in the Congress Government will be sent to jail if BJP returned to power.
He said, “an enquiry will be held into the corrupt practices of the ministers and within 48 hours of the BJP coming to power they will be sent to jail,” he added.
Addressing party workers as part of a statewide agitation against the ruling Congress Government headed by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Yeddy-urappa alleged that corruption has become rampant in various departments, including Irrigation, Rural Development and other important departments. He  said, “I have sufficient documents to prove this and will release to the public at appropriate time. I will quit politics if Siddaramaiah proves I am wrong.”
Defending that his allegation about payment of `1,000 crore by Siddaramaiah to Congress High Command as revealed in a dairy of a close confidant of chief minister and legislative Council member K Govindaraju, Yeddyurappa said let the Chief Minster get the dairy from IT department through RTI whether it is true or false. “I need not have to prove as how I got the information, it is their duty to prove I am wrong.” he added.
Yeddyurappa challenged and offered to quit politics if he was proved wrong over his disclosure on payment of Rs 1000 crore to Congress High Command by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah through his Political Advisor and legislative Council member K Govindraj.
“ If I am proved wrong, I will retire from Politics,” Yeddyurappa said while addressing party workers assembled at Town Hall here as part of statewide agitation launched against the ruling Congress government indulging in corruption.
Yedyurappa alleged that Siddaramaiah is trying to rake up old cases against him, but he was not afraid.  ‘’let the truth put before the public and people will decide about who is wrong and who is right’’.
Former Minister and lok Sabha member Shobha Karandlje alleged that the Congress government had stooped into low level and was least bothered to take action against leaders and Ministers against whom charges were leveled and crores of rupees disproportionate assets were unearthed during IT raids.
At Belgaum, Opposition leader in the legislative Council and former Deputy Chief Minister K S Eshwarappa said that Siddaramaiah will be exposed if an inquiry was ordered into payment of Rs 1000 crore to party High Comman as disclosed in a dairy found during raid on the properties of MlC K Govindraj, Political Advisor to the Chief Minister.
“Why the Chief Minister is not taking action against Ministers who were found processing disproportionate assets during recent IT raid.  Why he is shielding them, if he is really fighting against corruption,” he questioned.
Opposition leader in the legislative Assembly and former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, addressing the agitators, demanded Siddaramaiah to prove that there is no dairy in which payment of Rs 1000 crore donation to party High Command was mentioned.    At Mysuru, former Minister and senior BJP leader A Ramdas led the agitators.
