The CBI on Thursday grilled a top Reliance Industries ltd. (RIl) executive for the second day in a row in the corporate espionage case relating to leakage and sale of classified documents from Union Finance and Commerce Ministries and confronted him with arrested accused persons.

RIl vice-president (Finance) KV Mohanan was confronted with arrested accused and chartered accountant Khemchand Gandhi. During the questioning, Mohanan was also shown the documents seized from Gandhi.

The agency also questioned chartered accountant Rajendra Chitale, a partner of Mumbai-based law firm Chitale & Associates. The duo has been called for questioning again on Friday.

Besides Mohanan, Chitale was also confronted with Gandhi. Chitale was also asked questions about his clients and recovery of confidential documents from the office of his firm in Mumbai. They said he was also questioned in front of his partner Paresh, who has already been arrested by the agency, sources said.

The probe has revealed that Mohanan was allegedly in regular touch with Gandhi. The investigation into the case has also revealed that huge amount of money was paid to various persons, including public servants, in lieu of passing on classified documents.
