BJP furore in House, to observe ‘Black Day’ today
Police used water cannons, lathis and tear gas shells to disperse thousands of BJP leaders and cadres from across the State on Tuesday, during a protest against poor law and order situation, rampant corruption and inefficiency in the present JMM-led Hemant Soren government, near the Assembly while it was in session.
Police was prepared to stop bandh supporters with barricading on routes leading to the State Assembly as the bandh enthusiasts marched towards the House. Scuffle broke out at Birsa Chowk and also near SAIl Satellite Colony when police tried to disperse BJP supporters who were trying to march towards the Assembly crossing the barricade. Senior BJP leaders, including former Chief Minister Arjun Munda, Yashwant Sinha, Ranchi MlA CP Singh and Raghubar Das were also present on the occasion. The use of ‘excessive’ police force evoked strong response from the senior party leaders, who have given a call to observe ‘Black Day’ on Wednesday threatening the Government of grave consequences for alleged highhandedness.
“The Government is trying to stop a movement by using batons and bullets. No movement stops because of batons and bullets. This is a display of feeble mentality on the part of Government. Government will get a befitting reply for the manner in which workers of BJP were stopped at several places and beaten up,” said Munda.
One BJP worker hailing from Jasidih was injured because of tear gas shells fired by police. The injured person is undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the hand and chest however his condition is out of danger.
The matter was also raised in the House by BJP’s CP Singh that caused uproars and sloganeering by the party members. “Our workers were protesting peacefully but water cannon and tear gas shells were used against them. Why the Government is suppressing such protests in dictatorial manner,” asked Singh. On the intervention of the Speaker Minister Rajendra Singh assured that the entire incident would be looked into by examining the video footages.
Since morning vehicles carrying BJP supporters hit the streets and hundreds of workers came out in streets carrying party flags to shame the government for failing to provide security to common man.
Rising crime graph in the capital and elsewhere combined with the State government’s failure to root out corruption and stamp fear of naxals out of the mind of a common man made the saffron brigade to hit the streets.
“This is a total failure of government and collapse of governance in the State. Corruption, crime and naxalism are at an all time high. So time has come to awaken people and make them realize what this government has done so far to make their lives better. This government will pay the price for its failure in the coming elections,” maintained BJP town president Satya Narayan Singh.
The protest against deterioration in law and order, however, overlooked the inconvenience caused to people especially school going children whose parents kept on calling school authorities to know arrangements made by school administration on the day of protest.
Police had erected bamboo barricading at the bridge near SAIl Satellite Colony and had to use force to make the crowd move away that helped school children leave for home without having the trouble of confronting the party workers.
