While the Delhi Police has put 22 police teams to unravel the mystery behind the triple murders of Old Rajinder Nagar that was reported on Sunday morning, the investigators have rounded up 35 people for questioning.
Senior police officials said the case could be transferred to a Special Investigation Team (SIT) for carrying out a detailed investigation. However, there has been no breakthrough in the case as police teams are busy collecting evidence and are also trying to establish the motive behind the gruesome killings.
Meanwhile, the relatives of the family and the Delhi Dhobi Ekta Committee have alleged that the deceased family was under threat and despite being aware the police did not do anything to allay the threat to the family.
Sanjay Sonaria (50), his wife Jyoti (48) and son Pawan (21) were allegedly found strangled to death in their residence in Central Delhi’s Old Rajinder Nagar on Sunday morning. Besides, the family members had also claimed on Monday that none of the relatives had any personal dispute with Sonarias, but land mafia consisting of a cartel of builders had conspired to kill the entire family.
According to a police official, a total of 13 cases were registered at police station Rajinder Nagar concerning Jyoti Sanoria and her husband Sanjay Sanoria between 2012 and 2013.The family members of the deceased however, had claimed that after Sanjay was shot at his leg in 2012 following which he had filed an FIR against his business partners, the enmity between them and Sanjay had intensified. “Their business partners had framed false charges against them,” said a family member.
“I wrote a letter to the department for the welfare of SC/ST/OBC/ Minority of Delhi Government on January 2015 regarding the threat faced by the Sonaria family from their business partners, however, no investigation was taken up,” said general secretary of Delhi Dhobi Ekta Committee, Ram lal Azad.
