In-charge Secretary of Chhattisgarh and Congress Member of Parliament Bhaktcharan Das exhuded confidence that his party’s win in the forthcoming Assembly polls was 'certain' saying that ’ an anti-BJP wave is blowing in the State.'
The BJP leaders' squabbling over the prime ministerial post in New Delhi is a clear proof how a party which boasts of unity is immersed in internal squabbles, Das said as the State Congress Partivartan Yatra reached Mahasamund lok Sabha constituency in the State.
Speaking on the occasion, former Union Minister Vidyacharan Shukla remarked : ‘We struggled to create Chhattisgarh state. But we never imagined the State would suffer so much under the BJP rule’.
With rampant cases of atrocities, rape, theft and dacoity, the people of the state are scared of the Raman Singh government, he said.
Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Processing Charandas Mahant said that the Centre released crores of rupees for welfare of Chhattisgarh’s farmers without any result. ‘What is the reason behind farmers leaving agriculture workIJ ‘
‘The sharp decline in the number of farmers in Chhattisgarh is worrisome. The Congress party condemns the neglect of farmers by the BJP government in the
State’, he said.
State Congress Committee President Nandkumar Patel said that the ruling Government has created a record in cheating the people of Chhattisgarh.
The BJP did not fulfill many of its promises made in its poll manifesto of 2003 and 2008 and is now making new announcements every day to remain in power, Patel said.
Patel asked the party workers to go to every booth and tell voters the difference between what has been promised and what has been done by the ruling party.
The Congress party is committed to procure paddy at the rate of Rs 2,000 per quintal besides providing free electricity and regularising all teachers in the region,
he said.
A large number of party MlAs and workers were
present on the occasion.
