The Congress party has warned the Telangana Rashtra Samiti against the proposal to take over 11 acres of land belonging to Osmania University in the name of weaker section housing project.
Mohammed Ali Shabbir, Congress leader in Telangana legislative Council alleged that the move was aimed at securing personal gains by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. Addressing media in Hyderabad on Monday, he alleged that the CM appears to be suffering from 'open land phobia'. "Wherever he sees an open land, he comes out with some construction plans. In the name of weaker section housing, KCR wants to handover land to realtors for personal gains".
Recalling that the Osmania University campus, established in 1918 was spread over 1,600 acres, Shabbir said that it was imparting education to thousands of students including 6,000 foreign students. The number of foreign students was likely to go up to 20,000 by 2020, he said.
Shabbir said that the Congress will not allow the TRS Government to take over even an inch of Osmania land and would launch a massive agitation.
Shabbir listed out various proposals of the Chief Minister to pursue real-estate ambition including taking over 57 acres of land of Chest Hospital, NTR stadium land and the defence land.
