Congress in leadership crisis: BJP

Published on:

On a roll after comprehensively winning the State elections, a confident BJP on Monday went about rubbing salt into the injuries of the Congress, floored by its ignominious performance.

Hitting the Congress where it hurt the most BJP vice-president Smriti Irani wondered whether the Congress was still sure about who would be its next prime ministerial candidate.

Training her guns at the Congress “Crowned Prince” Irani said the successive failures in elections from Uttar Pradesh to elsewhere it had become clear that Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi was more of a liability for his party.

Stopping short of saying that the Congress was suffering from an identity crisis the BJP leader said the UPA boss had no credible alternative to handle the wave created by her party’s prime ministerial face Narendra Modi.

It seemed that the Congress “don’t have any credible alternative which is proved by the fact that Sonia Gandhi is yet to declare the prime ministerial candidate for her party.”
