The Congress on Friday asked the Centre to act against the misdeeds of Pakistan similarly when they used to ask the Congress-led UPA when in power. AICC spokesperson Abhishek Manhu Singvhi said that it is not just for the sake of Opposition, the way BJP used to do, but in the interest of nation and sub-continent the Centre must take the ceasefire violations sincerely. Another Congress leader Rashid Alvi said the Government should take concrete steps to deal with the situation. Further, terming Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s latest comment on ceasefire violations as cheap, Singhvi said Islamabad is still stuck in the ‘Main Hoon Na’ syndrome. “Even I can make very provocative and aggressive statements. Surely, we can keep the dispute as it is, if not solve it, but there is no point of accelerating this thing. Pakistan should understand this. Politicians of Pakistan are stuck to the ‘Main Hoon Na’ syndrome by making cheap comments,” said Singhvi.
“We never wanted war as we believe in peace but Pakistan always forgets what we can do, we have taught them a lesson before as well. But what is our Government doingIJ It must take steps. The Prime Minister must forget about public meetings and polls for some time and think about existence of the nation,” said Alvi. While Asif had said that the country is capable of responding “befittingly” to Indian actions on the border, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley warned Pakistan by saying “If Pakistan persists with this adventurism, our forces will make cost of this adventurism unaffordable for it.”
