The seat, where a re-poll was held on Monday in one village due to breaking down of an EVM, was bagged by Congress candidate Ch Vamsichand Reddy by a margin of 72 votes. He defeated his nearest rival T Pujari of the BJP.

With this the total strength of the Congress in Telangana State Assembly has risen to 21.

However, the lowest margin of victory in Andhra Pradesh was 12 votes in Mangalgiri, where YSRCP candidate Alla Krishan Reddy won. It was followed by 512 votes in Rajam, 713 votes in Kottapeta. Even film star Roja of YSRCP won Nagari seat by a margin of 858 seats and in Kadiri it was 968 votes margin for Chand Basha of the same party.

On the whole, the margin of victory was between 100 and 5,000 votes in 40 Assembly seats, 26 of them were won by the YSRCP and 14 by the TDP.

Another feature of poll results this time was the flood of debutants. 10 of the 17 MPs in Telangana and 11 of the 25 in Seemandhra were first timers.

As far as women were concerned, K Kavitha was the only woman to be elected to the lok Sabha in Telangana. She got elected on TRS ticket from Nizamabad. In Seemandhra, both the women elected to the lok Sabha were on the YSRCP tickets. They include Butta Renuka from Kurnool, and K Geetha from Araku.

On the minorities front, Asaduddin Owaisi (MIM) was the only Muslim to be elected to the lok Sabha from entire Andhra Pradesh. TDP had fielded N Mohammed Farook from Nandyal, but he lost.
