Cong top brass to address ‘Mehangai Hatao’ rally in Raj

The Congress is looking forward to a grand 'Mehangai Hatao Rally' on price rise and inflation at Jaipur on Sunday to be addressed by top party leaders, including Congress president Sonia Gandhi, former party chief Rahul Gandhi, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi and may be a virtual address by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. The rally was earlier to be held in Delhi, but due to denial of permission, it is now being organised in Jaipur.

Rajasthan AICC incharge Ajay Maken said that Rahul and Priyanka will participate in the "national rally" along with chief ministers and former chief ministers of other states. However, if Sonia will be unable to make it for physical presence then she will make a virtual address as is scheduled for Manmohan Singh.

Holding a rally amid the Omicron threat, Rajasthan Congress president Govind Singh Dotasra assured all COVID-19 protocols will be followed, adding that chairs have been arranged, masks will be provided, and temperatures will be checked.

Addressing a press conference in Jaipur to share details of the rally, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala denounced the NDA government for its policies and decision saying they have "led to rising inflation" in the country. Further, he alleged that every decision of the Narendra Modi government is “anti-people”.

"Every decision of the Modi government is anti-people. Small and medium industries collapsed. Neither Naxalism and terrorism ended nor black currency was eliminated. Unemployment rate in the country is 10 per cent. Defeat Modi and BJP to get rid of rising inflation," Surjewala said.

The rally is aimed at highlighting inflation and its impact on the common man and it will also mark the conclusion of the grand old party’s ongoing two-week long ‘Jana Jagran Abhiyan’ against inflation under the Modi government.

Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot and other leaders visited the venue at the Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium on Saturday to take stock of the preparations.
