In a fresh blow to the Congress, its national spokesperson Jaiveer Shergill on Wednesday resigned from the party alleging that the decision-making of the party is no longer in sync with the ground realities. Shergill, 39, is a lawyer by profession and has been one of the youngest spokesmen of the party.
He hit out at the party saying sycophancy is eating into the organisation like "termites". “I’ve been seeking time from Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra for more than a year, but we are not welcomed in the office,” Shergill told The Pioneer. “In the past 8 years, I have not taken anything from Congress but only poured into the party. Today when I am being pushed to bow down before people because they are close to the top leadership. This is not acceptable to me,” he added. In a letter to party chief Sonia Gandhi, Shergill said the primary reason was that "the ideology and the vision of the current decision makers of the Congress is no longer in sync with aspirations of the youth and modern India".
