Cong quick response team to meet on May 2

The newly-constituted Quick Response Team (QRT) of the Congress, a brainchild of party vice-president Rahul Gandhi, will hold its first formal meeting on May 2 at the Congress War Room at Gurdwara Rakabganj to chalk out its future course of action.

The Congress, which is often seen on defensive with the Opposition targeting it on various issues like JPC and Coalgate, wants to launch a counter offensive and try to improve the image of the UPA Government through this QRT. Also, it wants to avoid any confusion created by divergent view points expressed by various leaders on the same issue.

But with some of the same old aces of the Media Department of AICC being included in the team, it remains to be seen how fast its response would be on various issues and challenges facing the Government.

AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh has sent a communiqué to all the members of the QRT about the meeting which would be chaired by Janardan Dwivedi, who is also the chairman of media cell of AICC, sources said on Monday

Though a couple of informal sittings have been held in the past, this is the first formal meeting of the Team which includes Singh, Political Secretary of the Congress President Ahmad Patel, Minister for Information and Broad

casting Manish Tewari, Minister of State in PMO Narayansamy, Congress spokesman Sandeep Dikshit and young MP Deepender Singh Hooda.

Dikshit would head the team which will do research on various issues coming up in the media — print and TV — based on which the party will devise its response to various issues while Hooda will make party’s stand clear on social media, Facebook and Twitter.
