Taking a dig at the Congress for blocking the passage of GST Bill, Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (Independent Charge) and Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy has said that the Congress is opposing the Bill as it believes that BJP led NDA Government at the Centre will be credited once the Bill is passed.
“The GST Bill is the baby of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government. However, unfortunately the Congress believes that once the GST Bill is passed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP led NDA government will be credited for it. This is probably creating the obstruction to pass the bill,” Rudy said while addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters in Guwahato today.
Rudy was visiting the northeastern states of Assam and Nagaland for three days. While arrived in Assam on Tuesdayevening and visited different skill development Centres in Assam, the Union Minister is expected to visit Dimapur in Nagaland tomorrow before leaving for New Delhi the same day.
“It is a good legislation and the consultation was piloted by the Congress led UPA government. We believe it is good for the states as well as for the Centre. The day it is passed, the country’s GDP will grow at least by one percent. This will create huge investment in the country,” said Rudy.
The Union Minister hoped that the Bill will be passed by both the Houses of the Parliament during the Budget session of the Parliament, which will be held from February 22.
He also blamed the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) at the Centre for its wrong policies and for not doing anything towards the welfare of the younger generations of the country and said that the NDA government is going to set up skill development Centres in all blocks of Assam and other northeastern states to increase the employability of younger generations here.
