The UPA Government could be at the receiving end of an anti-incumbency wave, a Congress MP representing Goa has said.
Speaking to reporters at a Press conference, Francisco Sardinha, while admitting that it was a factor, did not say how crucial it would be.
“The anti-incumbency factor is always there. It affects everybody,” he said responding to a query about polls and survey claiming that the UPA Government that has been in power for nine year now was waning in popularity.
“Surveys conducted ahead of the elections are not always right,” Sardinha said.
Sardinha represents the South Goa constituency which is Catholic dominated.
The South Goa MP is a key minority face in the party and is the chairman of the Estimates Committee of the lok Sabha.
After being elected to power in 2004, the UPA has remained in power since. During the second stint in power (2009), the dispensation is referred to as UPA-2 and completes four years in power this month. The second stint has been marred by bad headlines of repeated scams, corruption and very little action being taken by the authorities.
