The Congress on Monday complained to Election Commission over BJP PM candidate Narendra Modi’s poll message that was uploaded on the social media and later telecast by TV channels on the last leg of polling in the lok Sabha elections.
“The video message tweeted by Mr Modi is being shown in all constituencies. This is violation of the EC code and an FIR must be lodged,” said KC Mittal, Congress’s legal cell head. Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken tweeted, “How can channels show Modi’s speech in violation of the code of conduct. Election Commission should take cognizance immediately.”
The video showed Modi thanking voters who have voted in the previous phases as he appealed to voters of Varanasi to vote. Modi is contesting polls from Varanasi. “Today is the day of polls in Varanasi. At the end of the day, the people of India, the voters should win, the democracy should win,” Modi said.
In his speech, Modi also took a swipe at Congress saying the ruling party which sets poll agenda has neither been proactive nor responsive, but reactive and lauded the NDA for being firmly focused on its agenda of development and good governance.
