Congress President Sonia Gandhi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Vice-President Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot were among those who paid floral tributes to the late Prime Minister at a remembrance ceremony held at Shakti Sthal. MPs from the party and large number of party workers were also in attendance at the ceremony. Wayanad MP and former Congress president Rahul Gandhi paid tribute to his grandmother and former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary on October 31. Rahul , who is not in India at the moment, wrote an emotional post on Twitter about how his "Dadi's" (grandmother's) principles are still instrumental in guiding him. Sharing a photo of Indira Gandhi from his official Twitter handle, he wrote in Hindi: "October 31 marks the anniversary of my grandmother's martyrdom. Your iron resolve and fearless decisions continue to guide me at every step of my life."

Recounting the first 'shloka' that Indira Gandhi taught her and her brother Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Vadra said in Hindi that she was reminded of the last line of the hymn. The 'shloka' means: "From ignorance, lead me to truth; From darkness, lead me to light; From death, lead me to immortality. Aum peace, peace, peace".
