Former Union Minister and Congress leader CP Joshi blamed the Modi Government for favouring corporate sector at the cost of important social sector by reducing allocation in tune with Rs1.76 lakh crore in various social sector schemes. Cut in the outlay of social sectors indicates how the NDA Government is committed to the lower strata of society, said Joshi in a Press conference held by the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) headquarter in Ahmedabad.

The biggest cut in outlay by the Modi Government was in tune with Rs1,03,000 crore in food security. Besides, the Central Government reduced outlay for Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana in tune with Rs7,400 crore," he claimed adding that agriculture production in the country has gone down from 2,650 lakh metric tons to around 2,500 lakh metric tons in last one year.

Agriculture exports increased from $7.5 billion to $42.6 billion during the UPA regime, said the Congress leaders adding that during the past one year there has been 25 per cent reduction in agriculture exports. He claimed that there has been cut in various schemes related to Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe by Rs13,208 crore and allocation to tribal people has gone down by Rs7,700 crore.

Decentralisation was UPA agenda, he claimed, adding that the NDA Government has completely changed the policy and reduced outlay by Rs3,300 crores for panchayati raj. Same is the case with MNREGA, which he termed biggest failure of the Modi Government. He claimed that there has been drastic drop in allocation for important social sectors like women and child development, education, health and housing for poor people.

“As Modi Government is set to complete one year at the helm, AICC has decided to hold a series of Press conferences depicting failure of the BJP-led NDA Government across the country. These conferences would be mainly on five topics — social sector schemes, agriculture, human resource development, divisive leadership, employment and skill development," said GPCC spokesman Manish Doshi.
