After former Uttar Pradesh as well as Uttarkhand Chief Minister Narayan Dutt Tiwari, who had to face paternity suit by his biological son Rohit Shekhar, one more case of fathering a son from alleged extra-marital relationship has been filed in the Gujarat High Court against another the Congress leader and former Union Minister in the UPA Government - Naran Rathwa.
A 45-year-old woman, resident of Amreli town in Sauarshtra region alleged that Rathwa had fathered her son, who is now 18 years old. The woman initially approached a local court in Amreli for not accepting their child and also demanded for maintenance for their alleged offspring. However, the court dismissed her plea on the basis of insufficient evidence.
In the year 2013, she approached the Gujarat High Court and demanded for DNA test on the five-term parliamentarian from tribal dominated Chhota Udepur to prove her claim of the paternity of her son. However, the former Minister of State is refusing allegations of having relations with the complainant and also denies undergoing DNA test.
Responding her petition the high court sought a reply from the strong tribal leader. Subsequently, he filed an affidavit before the HC and denied all charges. Rathwa accepted in his affidavit that, he knew the woman as she involved in social work. He blamed on the woman, who is now widow, she is utilising legal weapons to blackmail him. While refusing to undergo DNA test, the former Minister also blamed on the woman that she was not only responsible for the death of her husband but also behaving rudely with her in-laws. Further hearing on the case is scheduled on Thursday, September 4, 2014.
It is worth mentioning that when Congress leader ND Tiwari’s biological son Rohit Shekhar first time moved to court in 2008 and demanded for DNA test, the veteran Congress leader also refused to undergo DNA test. However, later on he not only had to undergo the test, but it also proved in the year 2012 that he is the biological father of Rohit Shekhar.
