Uttar Pradesh Congress had to face humiliation on Sunday when it first gave party membership to a Shiv Sena leader and then within a couple of hours he along with his supporters were shown the doors.
Shiv Sena, UP deputy chief Kunwar Gaurav Upadhaya along with hundred of his supporters joined the Congress in the presence of senior party leaders like Rajya Sabha member and Sanjay Singh, Fazle Masood on Sunday. Party’s vice -president Madan Mohan Shukla administered the oath to the Shiv Sainiks while lucknow city Congress president Bodh lal Shukla conducted the programme. But surprisingly after two hours, the party rejected Upadhaya and his supporters’ memberships.
Though no leader was ready to speak on the matter, a press statement of the party said several complaints were received against the new entrant, including his background. The statement further said that several labourers were brought by the leader during his joining in the Congress to show his growing influence. It is against the ethics of the party and therefore he has been shown the door, the statement said.
