Distancing his party from the video that purportedly showed party’s MlA from Madhya Pradesh Shakuntala Khatik exhorting people to set a police station on fire, Congress leader and former Minister Sachin Pilot on Friday condemned all such attempts to take law into hands or instigate violence.
Responding to queries on the video involving Khatik that went viral, Pilot said “Any individual who instigates violence, propagates violence as a means to achieve an objective or disturbs peace is unacceptable to the Congress. If what you have said is true, the Congress disassociates with anyone who indulges in such things. On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi was in Madhya Pradesh. He appealed for peace and calm. Because, violence is not a solution to any problem. The only way you can arrive at a solution is to hold talks with those who are on agitation”.
Talking to media persons here, Pilot said “Taking law into hands is something we absolutely condemn and we disassociate ourselves from anyone who propagates violence in any form”
When his attention was drawn once again the video involving Khatik, the former Minister said “ I have not seen the video. If the video is proved to be authentic, the Congress disassociates itself from the individual concerned who instigates or propagates violence in any form and condemns the act.”
